DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – An ongoing investigation into sexual assault of a minor has resulted in more charges against a Miamisburg man.
On April 1, 2019, 54-year-old Scott E. Pate was indicted on 10 counts of rape of a child under 10 years of age, 10 counts of gross sexual imposition of a child under 13 years of age, and two counts of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. During an ongoing investigation, it was learned that Pate sexually abused another child in 2004.
Investigators believe that Pate may have committed sex offenses against additional victims and ask anyone with information to call Detective Michael Aiken of the Miamisburg Police Department.
In addition to these four new counts, sexually violent predator specifications were added to the original 22 counts in the indictment.
If convicted of these specifications on the rape of a child under 10 years of age, the mandatory sentence is life in prison without the possibility of parole. If he is convicted of these specifications on the gross sexual imposition charges, the sentence is a mandatory one to five years to life in prison.
Pate is currently in custody in the Montgomery County Jail. His trial will begin on July 29, 2019, at 9 am.
