Miamisburg could see two new housing developments by 2020

Local News

The City of Miamisburg is considering two major housing developments. Nothing is final, with the idea beig in the early planning stages.

There is a large open field across from Terrington Place located on Benner Rd.

187 homes on 69 acres of land could soon fill that void. It’s all because the economy surrounding Miamisburg is booming.

“Its been very strong. Lots of business growth out by Austin. Even in the older parts of town. Lots of investment in the business areas and residential areas. The one spot we haven’t seen a lot of growth, is new sub-divisions,” said Ryan Homsi, Miamisburg’s City Planner.

The second development would be on Miamisburg Springboro Rd. With a plan to build 127 houses on 43 acres of land.

The homes would costly roughly $200,000 and the city thinks they would fill up fast.

“We see a demand for this type of product and this type of development. So that means people either want new houses or want to move to the area,” said Homsi.

As you might expect, some residents enjoy staring out at a natural landscape. Several residents told 2 NEWS off camera that they like the idea of a healthy economy, just not new neighbors.

Miamisburg will likely have a first reading of the plan, May 7. At least 2  public comment periods will follow.

“Reach out to us. Let us know what your concerns are. Some of them can be addressed and some can be a little trickier. Unless they talk to us, we don’t know exactly what’s going through their mind,” said Homsi.

2 NEWS will keep close tabs on this development.
