Miami Valley volunteers to spend Thanksgiving helping victims of California wildfires

Local News

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Hundreds of volunteers from the American Red Cross are spending Thanksgiving weekend near the sites of the California wildfires, including ten people from the Miami Valley.

They are helping out in the hard-hit area of Paradise.

Teams are not allowed in the actual fire zones due to the potential dangers, so they have focused mostly on providing and delivering supplies to those who have lost everything.

“They’ve really come together as a community. I was talking to one today from the Salvation Army who had to drop some stuff off and a lot of his family is involved, and he says it takes something like this to bring the community together,” said volunteer Kim Wagner.
