‘Messy’ commute expected Wednesday morning

Local News

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Ohio Department of Transportation has a warning for drivers: “Be ready for a messy morning commute.”

Snow and rain are expected to move in overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. The combination could make for slushy, slick roads.

ODOT District 7 Public Information Officer Mandi Dillon says crews have been out pre-treating the streets, all afternoon and she says come nightfall: “We’ll have all hands on deck.”

ODOT is keeping an eye on the forecast.

“As long as this comes in as snow first, we will be OK with the pre-treatment. If this comes in as rain first, it can wash away some of that pre-treating,” Dillon said. “Depending on what we get and how fast it comes down, you may want to add quite a bit of extra time for your morning commute.”

ODOT says give yourself a few extra minutes to get where you’re going and as always, give their plows room to do their job.
