Mercer County Sheriff urges citizens to call with tips after 4 drug arrests

MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) – Several arrests were made Monday by the Grand Lake Task Force and HIT Team, which consists of law enforcement with Mercer and Auglaize Sheriff’s Offices, the Celina Police Department, and Coldwater Police Department.

Around 12:34 p.m., deputies witnessed 39-year-old Jason E. Niemeyer entered his residence at 608 North Walnut Street. Deputies made contact with the man, knowing there was a warrant out for his arrest for drug trafficking.

While there, deputies saw suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia. As a result, they were granted a search warrant for the residence.

Suspected drugs, drug paraphernalia, and cash was seized during execution of the warrant.

26-year-old Wesley W. Elam was also arrested at the residence for a parole violation.

In a separate event, officers arrested 35-year-old Casey W. Hammond during a traffic stop on Wayne Street around 11:17 a.m. for a warrant for contempt of court, on an original charge of nonsupport through Celina Municipal Court.

Mercer County K-9, Franko, alerted officers to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. As a result, the passenger, 37-year-old Adam L. Cornett, was arrested for possession of drug abuse instruments, being a syringe.
