Man with overdue lockers calls in bomb threat to U-Haul center

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A man will likely face charges after police say he called in a bomb threat to a U-Haul center on Wednesday because he was upset his overdue lockers at the location were going to be auctioned off.

Officials responded to the facility on East Third Street late Wednesday morning after a suspicious package was reported around 10:50 am.

The man’s lockers were scheduled to be auctioned off at 11 am.

According to a police report, the man told dispatchers, “There is a bomb in a box at U-Haul on East Third Street.” When asked what kind of bomb it was, he responded, “The kind that goes ‘boom.’”

Video and audio recordings helped police track him down.
