Man was alert, talking after being hit by train in Jackson Center

JACKSON CENTER, Ohio (WDTN) – CareFlight transported a man to the hospital Friday evening after he was hit by a train in Jackson Center.

It happened on SR-65 at the railroad crossing just north of Jackson Center around 6:20 p.m., where the man was spotted walking in the middle of the tracks.

He failed to hear the oncoming northbound train activating its horn numerous times.

The accident was reported by the train Engineer, who said the man was seen turning around roughly 20 feet before impact.

The train was traveling at 23 miles per hour, but slowing upon impact, at the time of the incident.

Officials say the man was alert and speaking with emergency personnel on scene.

He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with unknown injuries.
