Man found guilty as charged in fatal shooting

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – 36-year-old Deonte Dwayne Snowden, of Dayton, has been found guilty as charged for fatally shooting 57-year-old William Sarver on June 6th, 2016, according to Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr.

Sarver had been talking to some friends who were in a vehicle in the 1700 block of Riverview Avenue in Dayton when Snowden approached him and started yelling at him. Snowden then pulled out a gun and shot Sarver in the stomach, before fleeing the scene. The witness called 911 and told responders that the victim needed an ambulance because he had been shot.

The victim was transported to a hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Snowden’s identity was confirmed by eyewitnesses as the person who fired the fatal shot.

He was indicted by the Montgomery County Grand Jury on the following charges:

· Two counts Murder

· Two counts Felonious Assault

· One count Bribery

· One count Having Weapons Under Disability

Snowden was arrested in October of 2016 in Mesa, Arizona after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was then extradited to Montgomery County.

3-year firearm specifications are included in the murder and felonious assault counts because Snowden used a firearm to commit the crime.

After a grand jury trial, he was found guilty as charged on all counts.

He will be sentenced on August 7th, 2018, at 11 am.
