Man appears in court after Springfield standoff

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – A 36-year-old man pleaded not guilty in court after a standoff in Springfield on Sunday.

William Abston, Jr., is facing charges of abduction, inducing panic, felonious assault, inciting violence, an posession of criminal tools, among other charges.

Police and SWAT crews surrounded a home on Roosevelt Drive after a call about a domestic violence situation.

A woman and child were able to get out of the home safely.

A judge set a $50,000 bond for Abston, Jr.
