FRANKLIN, Ohio (WDTN) – Franklin High School and Gerke Elementary School were both placed on lockdown Monday afternoon after a report of a man with a gun.
Franklin Police say they received an unconfirmed report of a man with a gun in the area of Franklin High School at 3 pm Monday.
The schools were placed on lockdown while police searched the area. According to police, nothing was found. Police say Gerke Elementary was placed under lockdown “out of precaution only.”
The lockdowns on both schools were lifted around 3:50 pm. Police say the high school was searched and no one with a weapon was found.
Lieutenant Brian Pacifico with the Franklin Police Department said the schools were locked down for approximately 25 minutes.
Pacifico said someone called police saying the saw someone get out of a vehicle that they believed had a weapon.
Franklin, Spingboro, Carlisle and Warren County Sheriff Deputies along with the Franklin Fire Department responded to the area. Pacifico said Warren County has a protocol in place to respond to these types of incidents.
Pacifico said even though no one was found Detectives are still investigating the incident.
