Local News

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN)  Harrigan’s Tavern in Kettering hosted a 5 Saturday to raise money for various charities in the Miami Valley.

Nearly 600 people came out to support developmental disabilities awareness month. The race benefits JDRF, the Alzheimer’s Society, URS, and South Community.

Event organizers say it feels great to give back to people coping with illnesses.

Race Director Dean Hertert says, “We’re proud to be able to help out the people who are in need and that’s what the money does.”

Lisa Carter, the Chief Executive Officer at South Community, says, “We can say this money goes directly back into their lives and it’s improving recovery and their outcomes.”

More than one-million dollars has been raised for the four charities. This is the 19th year for this event.
