Kettering PD: Beware of telemedicine equipment fraud

KETTERING, OHIO (WDTN) -  Kettering Police wish to educate the public about telemedicine equipment fraud targeting Medicare beneficiaries.

Police say a medical supply company is calling Medicare beneficiaries to try and sell them unnecessary equipment.

They also claim they’ve hired doctors who are willing to rubber-stamp prescriptions for the “right price,” up to $150 per signature.

The department says if you get one of these calls, report it immediately, and be sure not to give out your social security number.

Medicare will never call and ask you for this information over the phone unless you called and left a message with them directly.
