KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) – National Night Out is happening Tuesday across the country. The city of Kettering was among those participating in the event.
The goal of National Night Out is to build community partnerships through interactions with local police.
Kettering’s event has grown so much that they had to close down Stroop Road near Town and Country.
Stroop will re-open around 9 pm Tuesday evening.
The community came together to enjoy free food, prizes, and entertainment.
“It’s so important to have community support and for them to know the police officers not when something goes bad, but when they are just there to talk to them and get to know them personally. When we have events like this and they have the chance, even for the officers to get to know each other, and the citizens, it’s great for us,” said Kettering Police Chief Chip Protsman.
