Jail worker arrested in connection to allegedly bringing drugs into facility

A Greene County Adult Detention Center worker was arrested Tuesday after allegedly bringing drugs into the facility.

Greene County Agencies for Combined Enforcement arrested 51-year-old Melissa J. Penn Tuesday, May 8 in connection to allegedly bringing methamphetamine into the facility. 

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office says Penn was being investigated for the past two weeks as Penn worked inside of the jail in the food services department.

Penn is facing two counts of Illegal Conveyance of Drugs charges.

Investigators are working with the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office if Penn could be facing other charges.

Penn is currently being held in the Greene County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

Penn will be arraigned in Xenia Municipal Court Wednesday.
