HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) – A Huber Heights road has reopened after being closed for hours due to a crash involving a school bus and pickup truck Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened just after 4 p.m. Tuesday when a pickup truck crashed into a Huber Heights City School bus waiting to turn left from Chambersburg Road onto Church Hill Downs Drive.
The truck hit the bus almost head-on before crashing into a DP&L pole.
The bus driver saw the truck drifting but did not have time to move the bus before the crash.
Four students and an aid were on board the bus at the time in addition to the driver. No one on the bus was injured.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
Police believe the pickup truck driver may have been suffering from a medical issue before the accident.
DP&L crews worked to repair the pole and get the road reopened.
Chambersburg Road was closed to thru traffic between Rip Rap Road and S.R. 202.
The road reopened early Wednesday morning.
