Huber Heights Fire hosts open house

Local News

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) – The Huber Heights Fire Division hosted one of the largest fire prevention open houses in the Miami Valley Sunday.

Kids had the chance to use a fire hose, learn lifeboat safety, and tour emergency response vehicles. This week is fire prevention week, and Sunday’s event made sure to emphasize the importance of closing doors at night and using smoke detectors.

Chief Mark Ashworth says, “Even if you have a small, little veneer door, that door being closed will hold back a tremendous amount of smoke and fire and may save your life. Don’t treat a smoke detector like a car alarm. If it goes off, react to it. Check your batteries regularly.”

Fire prevention week runs through Saturday, October 13th.
