DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – It’s a heatwave and doctors are warning residents to take caution.
As people around the Miami Valley do their best to keep cool, doctors at Miami Valley Hospital say they’re already seeing cases of heatstroke.
“We are seeing patients right now in the emergency department who have heat exposure, heat exhaustion,” Dr. Norman Schneiderman said. “This is a pretty bad heat-wave because we’re seeing people so soon.”
Hospital officials say they’ve seen at least four cases so far, Monday. This, as temperatures around the Dayton area are soaring into the 90’s for the third straight day.
Schneiderman says when the temperatures climb outside, it’s best to say indoors in the air conditioning and drink plenty of water.
“If you’re outside because you had to do something and you feel a little weak, a little dizzy, get out and get some fluids into you and rest. Call your doctor if you don’t improve rather quickly,” he said.
