MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) – Police are still on the hunt for the suspects who shot and killed a teen during a home invasion, and officers reveal today: they believe the teen was targeted.
Arrests have been made but no one charged in connection with this case, just yet.
It happened just two days before the new year, around 10 p.m., on December 30.
Two suspects entered apartments on North First Street and opened fire – killing 18-year-old Noah Kinser and injuring a 14-year-old girl.
Miamisburg Police Chief John Sedlak says it wasn’t a random event.
“We believe that they recognized that he would be there and we think it was a targeted event. This was not a random event,” Sedlak said. “We believe the motive was robbery all along. That was the intent.”
Sedlak says Kinser was not a resident at the apartment but “spent a considerable amount of time there” and that’s how the suspects knew where to find him.
He says his department has been working with area agencies on the case, following leads, and making arrests.
“We’ve made several arrests as ancillary part of our investigation,” Sedlak said. “These are individuals whose names have come up as part of information that we collected and we’re just following all the leads.”
A total of five people are in custody but none have been charged directly in connection with this homicide.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Miamisburg Police Department.
