HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) – Habitat for Humanity dedicated its first home of 2019 to a Huber Heights woman.
The program gives people a chance to purchase homes with an affordable mortgage who might otherwise not be able to, and community sponsors help to fund the projects.
New homeowner Karla Cobb has spent six years working toward this dedication. She finished 275 hours of volunteer hours on her new home and over 80 hours of educational classes.
“It was challenging, but I learned a lot. I learned how to fix stuff and take care of my bills and eat right. I learned a lot,” she says.
Habitat for Humanity says nearly 300 families have gotten a new home through this program with ten more families waiting for new homes this year.
