DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Emergency Room at Good Samaritan Hospital closed its doors for good Thursday afternoon.
The ER closed at noon.
The hospital on Philadelphia Drive will now begin winding down in-patient operations.
Good Samaritan Hospital will complete close at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, July 23.
Officials with Premier Health say the equipment from Good Sam will be transferred to other facilities.
According to Premier Health officials, arrangements are being made to transfer any patients who may need continued care from Good Sam to other hospitals.
Premier Health made the announcement of the Good Samaritan Hospital closing in January.
Since the announcement, Premier Health has been moving some operations to other hospitals.
Thursday’s ER closure comes as an investigation opens into Premier Health’s plans for Good Samaritan Hospital.
At the request of a local clergy group, the HHS Office of Civil Rights is launching an investigation over concerns the closure would disproportionately affect African Americans.
Premier Health says it’s cooperating with the investigation, but won’t change its timeline to close the hospital.
