PIQUA, Ohio (WDTN) – A high-pressure natural gas supply line was hit by construction crews working at the new Kettering Health Care facility in Piqua Tuesday afternoon, causing a gas leak.

Our friends at the Piqua Daily Call report that it happened on Looney Road around 1:30 pm.

Several businesses in the area had to be evacuated, including: Premier Health Looney campus, Buckeye Insurance, the Piqua Board of Education, Social Security office, and a surgical center.

Those businesses are expected to be back open on Wednesday.

Chief Brent Pohlschneider of the Piqua Fire Department said that no residential properties had to be evacuated.

No injuries have been reported.
