DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Former President Donald Trump spoke in Dayton at a rally in support of Republican U.S. Senate candidate JD Vance Monday.
The 45th president’s visit to the Miami Valley comes on the eve of the Nov. 8 election where Republican candidate JD Vance will face off against Democratic U.S. Congressman Tim Ryan for the U.S. Senate seat.
“No one in the world gets Ohioans fired up for Election Day like President Trump!” Vance said in a release. “It will be great to host him in Ohio again.”
The event was held at the Wright Bros. Aero Inc. at Dayton International Airport in Vandalia.
Crowds of supporters made their way inside the event space Monday afternoon as they anticipatedly wait for the arrival of former President Donald Trump.
Congressman Mike Turner opened the rally as the first speaker at the event. Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene spoke at the Dayton rally Monday evening.
“We need leaders in Washington that are focused on our country,” Rep. Greene said. “Focused on our freedoms and focused on our children’s future and we need a Republican Party that is focused on America First.”

JD Vance spoke just before 7 p.m. Monday ahead of former President Trump at the Dayton rally.
“My story is the story of the American dream. I’ve been so blessed to have such a good and charmed and blessed life in this state that all of us love,” Vance said.
Vance faces Ohio U.S. Congressman Tim Ryan on Tuesday for the Nov. 8 midterm election to take over for outgoing Sen. Rob Portman.
According to a recent poll by Emerson College, Vance holds a 51% lead over Ryan that has 43% siding with him. 4% are still undecided.

The former president landed in Dayton just after 8 p.m. Monday. From his plane, Trump walked directly to the stage to address the packed crowd at the rally.
Trump said that he will be making a “major announcement” in Florida on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
The 45th president ended his rally with listing off many of the candidate he has endorsed for the midterm election on Tuesday.
Trump has reportedly been eyeing the Dayton rally as a place to announce his 2024 presidential bid, according to The Hill sources.
Speculation about an announcement from Trump has ratcheted up significantly in recent weeks, with the former president himself nodding at the anticipation at recent rallies and saying that supporters should watch the Ohio rally.
“I ran twice, I won twice and I did much better the second time than the first,” Trump said Sunday at a rally in Miami.
“In order to make our country successful, safe and glorious, I probably have to do it again. Stay tuned tomorrow night in the great state of Ohio. Stay tuned.”
Polls have shown Trump remains popular with the vast majority of Republicans. But polls have also shown a majority of independents and a growing number of Republicans would rather see another candidate.
