HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) — Crews responded to a large fire on I-70 Monday evening.

The ODOT camera on I-70 eastbound, just beyond SR-201 and Brandt Pike in Huber Heights showed the lanes blocked after a fire broke out on a semi-trailer.

According to a Facebook post by the Huber Heights Fire Division, crews worked to separate compacted cardboard bales and douse them with water.

Using more than 20,000 gallons of water, water tankers shuttled water with hundreds of feet of fire hoses on the ground as there were no fire hydrants along the interstate.

The highway has since reopened in the area.
