Fire Officials say Dayton vacant house fire considered suspicious

Local News

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Fire officials say a house fire in Dayton is considered suspicious.

Crews responded to reports of a house fire on Leonhard Street near Troy Street around 11:15 p.m. Sunday.

When firefighters arrived, they found a fire at a vacant house that had been boarded up.

Crews went inside and knocked down the fire quickly.

No one was injured.

Authorities say they’ve battled a fire at this location in the past, and that presented challenges for crews this time around.

“You use extreme caution trying to fight a fire in a building that’s had previous damage from a fire,” Dayton District Fire Chief Paul Raisch said. “So, crews were able to get in safely, fight the fire and knock it down.”

Fire officials say there were no utilities going to the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
