DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A man who attempted to murder his two children inside their home on September 23 was indicted Thursday.

Centerville officers responded to a home on Bradstreet Road for a welfare check on Eades’s children.

Upon arrival, officers tried to make contact with Eades, who would not allow them entry into the home.

One of the officers went around to the back of the residence, where Eades was leaving through the patio door. His two children were nearby.

Officers went inside to check for other occupants and noticed the home had filled with smoke.

The Fire Department was called to the scene and discovered a wood-burning smoker had been lit and placed in an upstairs bedroom.

Further investigation revealed that Eades was trying to murder his children.

He was indicted by the Montgomery County Grand Jury Thursday for:

  • Four counts of Attempted Aggravated Murder
  • Two counts of Attempted Murder
  • Two counts of Aggravated Arson
  • Two counts of Endangering Children

He is in custody at the Montgomery County Jail, being held on a $600,000 bond.

He will be arraigned on October 9.
