DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A man accused of shooting his son Tuesday has been formally charged.
Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr. said Thursday Earl E. Shingleton, 57, of Dayton, has been charged in the shooting death of his 29-year old son.
Prosecutors say on February 5 Shingleton and son began arguing inside their home, located at 725 Wyoming Street.
After a lengthy verbal argument, Shingleton went into his bedroom where he retrieved a rifle. When he returned to the living room, prosecutors say Shingleton fired his rifle one time striking and killing his son who was sitting on the floor in front of his mother.
Shingleton has been charged with:
- Two counts Murder (proximate result)
- One count Felonious Assault (deadly weapon)
- One count Felonious Assault (serious harm)
All counts carry a three-year firearm specification.
