VERSAILLES, Ohio (WDTN) – A second alarm structure fire requiring the aid of multiple fire departments left a family homeless Wednesday afternoon.

Our partners at The Daily Advocate report that it happened around 1:30 pm.

Emergency crews from Ansonia, Versailles, and Greenville Township fire departments, in addition to Ansonia Rescue and Darke County Sheriff’s Department deputies, responded to the scene at 6773 SR-242 after reports came in of a working structure fire.

A second alarm was issued upon arrival, including requests for additional manpower and equipment from Greenville City, Union City, Rossburg and Gettysburg fire departments, and a second medic from Gettysburg Rescue to assist in the emergency.

The two-story brick farmhouse was completely destroyed in the fire.

Red Cross responded to assist the family.

The official cause of the fire is still under investigation, though officials say that comments from residents suggest that it started from a wood-burning style stove in the front of the home.
