SIDNEY, Ohio (WDTN) – A man was killed Monday night in a three-vehicle crash on I-75 north, near Sidney.
Our friends at the Sidney Daily News report that the Ohio State Highway Patrol received reports of a pickup truck driving erratically on I-75 south around 6:29 pm.
The truck sideswiped the left side of a commercial semi-tractor, lost control, and crossed the center grass median before slamming into a black Cadillac Escalade head-on as it was traveling northbound in the left lane.
The driver of the pickup truck, 21-year-old Nicholas Bayman of Piqua, was transported to Wilson Health before being CareFlighted to Miami Valley Hospital, where he died.
The 44-year-old driver of the Escalade, a Sidney man, was transported to Wilson Health for non-life threatening injuries along with his 14-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter. They were all released.
I-75 northbound lanes were closed for close to an hour due to the crash.
The Ohio Department of Transportation responded to the scene, along with the Sidney Police Department, Sidney Medic Squad, Sidney Fire Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol Traffic Crash Reconstruction and Motor Carrier Enforcement Personnel, Mayes’s Towing Service, and Roses Towing Service.
The crash remains under investigation.
