Driver charged for striking, killing pedestrian

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – An elderly man was killed after being struck by a car Saturday evening.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says that a 2004 Ford Ranger driven by a 59-year-old Dayton female was traveling north on SR-741 when she traveled off the right side of the roadway and hit a pedestrian near a bus shelter.

72-year-old Edward Lee Owens was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide.

The Miami Township and Moraine Police Departments assisted at the scene.
