PREBLE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) – A man has been removed from a home in Monroe Township following a law enforcement standoff on Wednesday.
2 NEWS crews on the scene said the Preble County Sheriff’s Office sent deputies to a home on the 8400 block of US 127 in Monroe Township.
According to Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson, the suspect involved in the standoff was wanted in Wayne County, Indiana for an armed robbery. A person alerted police that the suspect was in the home.
The suspect was found in the attic, where he came out without incident or injuries after teargas was deployed.
Wayne County authorities alerted Preble County officers that the suspect was likely armed and dangerous, as well as carry a firearm and wear body armor.
The suspect’s name has not been released as of this time and will likely face extradition back to Indiana, the Preble County Sheriff’s Office said.
The standoff lasted just over 7 hours.
