DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A non-profit organization is in the running for a $25,000 grant.
Crayons to Classrooms is one of 2,000 submissions hoping to win a grant from State Farm’s Neighborhood Assist Program.
The money would help provide hundreds of school supplies for kids and teachers in need in the Miami Valley.
Steve Rubenstein, Executive Director for Crayons to Classrooms, said, “In the schools that we serve, thinking about eighty to ninety percent, and in some instances, one hundred percent of the students that come in to school right now without the supplies they need to learn, it just slows down the education process and that burden falls to the teacher, and they have to figure out how to share resources or provide resources to their students.”
They need to remain in the top 40 to win a grant and are hovering around the 40 mark.
The voting ends Friday.
