DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Dayton man will serve life in prison for murdering his mother back in 2016.
On Saturday, July 2, 2016, Dayton Police responded to a home on Hoover Avenue. 55-year-old John T. Mukes called 911 and claimed that his 78-year-old mother, Mary Hinesmon, was badly beaten and strangled.
Investigators found no sign of forced entry into the home. Further, forensic evidence including DNA linked Mukes to the crime.
A jury found him guilty as charged Thursday on one count of murder and one count of felonious assault.
After the verdict was read, the court delivered his sentencing.
Mukes will serve life in prison and will not be eligible for consideration of parole until he has served at least 15 years.
