Dayton man pleads ‘not guilty’ to murdering 17-year-old girl

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The man charged with murdering 17-year-old LaShonda Childs has entered a ‘not guilty’ plea.

28-year-old Trendell Lamont Goodwin was in Dayton Municipal Court Friday afternoon.

His bond has been set at $1,000,000.

Goodwin is being charged with Murder, multiple counts of Felonious Assault, and Discharge of a Firearm after he allegedly shot and killed Childs earlier this week.

Before her death, Childs had recently described a series of abusive encounters with Goodwin on her Facebook page, sparking conversation about domestic violence.
