DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Dayton man was indicted Friday for shooting a man to death on October 23.

A Dayton officer was patrolling on Gettysburg Avenue on October 23 when he saw two cars traveling at a high rate of speed.

As he pulled out to investigate, multiple gunshots were fired.

The officer eventually caught up with the first vehicle and two individuals inside reported that a third occupant had been shot by someone in the other vehicle.

Calvin C. Tribble was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers soon located the other car on Gettysburg Avenue, and it sped away when the cruiser attempted to make a traffic stop.

A pursuit ensued through Dayton, Moraine, and West Carrollton, and ultimately came to an end when the car was found deserted on Kennywood Lane in West Carrollton.

Further investigation identified 26-year-old Jamariyo L. Drane, of Dayton, as an occupant in the car.

The next day, officers were involved in another pursuit with Drane that ended in his arrest.

Montgomery County Grand Jury indicted Drane on:

  • Two counts of murder
  • Four counts of felonious assault
  • Three counts of discharge of a firearm upon or near a public highway
  • One count of having weapons while under disability (prior offense of violence)
  • Two counts of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer

The counts of murder, felonious assault, and having weapons while under disability all include the following firearm specifications:

  • Three year firearm specification for using a firearm
  • 54 month firearm specification because the defendant was previously convicted of a firearm specification
  • Five year firearm specification for discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle
  • 90 month firearm specification for discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle after having been convicted of a firearm specification

The counts of discharge of a firearm upon or near a public highway also include three-year and 54-month firearm specifications.

Drane is in custody at the Montgomery County Jail, being held on a $1,000,000 bond.

He will be arraigned November 6 at 8:30 a.m.
