DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton and Kettering police attempted a follow up call at a home on Wayne Avenue near Brookline Avenue that devolved into a standoff.
Lt. Bradley Lambert, of the Kettering Police Department, said that the officers were called to a home in Kettering due to suspicious activity. Upon arrival, they found traces of forced entry into the and saw a lot of items, including weapons, strewn about the residence.
The homeowner, who was out of town, confirmed with police that the weapons were missing. This led police to the duplex on Wayne Avenue around 3:45 p.m., where SWAT managed to take one of the suspects into custody.
While investigating the first home on Wayne Avenue, police learned of a second suspect who lived on Brookline Avenue. When SWAT approached the suspect came out on his own.
Both men are currently being held on burglary and receiving stolen property — one of the two suspects had multiple warrants out for his arrest.
Bradley told 2 NEWS that police are looking into a third home on Pershing Boulevard as they believe it is connected to the other two suspects.
As of this writing, there is no police presence on Pershing Boulevard and Wayne Avenue is opened back up.
This is a developing story and WDTN.com will update it when more information is available.
