Dayton Gastroenterology hosted the 12th annual “No Buts About It“ 5k race today.
Runners from across the Miami Valley gathered at Welcome Stadium in Dayton to support Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
Colorectal Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer in the United States. Doctors say early screenings can reduce the risk of cancer by more than 80 percent.
Dr. Jonathan Saxe of Dayton Gastroenterology, said this annual event brings awareness to the community.
“We’re out here to let people know there’s way to screen for this and hopefully prevent it.“
Dr. Saxe said a healthy lifestyle and knowing the risk factors will help prevent the disease. He also recommended getting regular colonoscopies starting at age 45, and if you have a family history Dr. Saxe says to start testing at age 40.
