MIAMI TWP., Ohio (WDTN) – The City of Dayton is attempting to re-zone the Wright Brothers Airport located in Miami Township.
The city wants to change the zoning from airport to multi-purpose.
Altogether, Dayton wants to re-zone more than 300 acres of land on and around Wright Brothers Airport.
The re-zoning would allow offices along with research/industrial buildings to be constructed around the airport.
The City of Dayton pitched the idea to Miami Township that re-zoning would not compete with existing businesses but would cater to aviation and defense contractors.
If you visit the Wright B Flyer museum you can see just how rapid the growth is around Austin Landing.
Miami Township has been active in re-zoning properties over the last few years to better fit the areas needs. That’s also something Dayton’s proposal points too.
Neither side would talk about the re-zoning proposal ahead of its reading.
