Dance event raises money for tornado survivors

Local News

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) – A Kettering dance studio is getting into the tornado relief efforts. Sunday morning the Swerk Squad and MVP Dance Fit teamed up to host a fundraiser to help Dayton families affected by the tornadoes.

Attendees were encouraged to donate before getting some exercise via dancing. Organizers expected 30 to 50 people to show up.

They talked about why it’s important to help. Director Abby Puterbaugh says, “We have a lot of people who were impacted here in our gym and neighborhoods. We love that we have a platform to give back and bring people in and raise money for all our friends and neighbors around us.”

100 percent of the proceeds from the event will go to the Greater Dayton Disaster Relief Fund. Abby Puterbaugh says there will be another event next weekend.
