Crews battle kitchen fire at Dayton bar

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Crews battled flames at a kitchen in a bar in Dayton Wednesday.

The fire was initially reported at the Five Guys restaurant, but Dayton Fire said it was actually the Back Home Tavern bar located behind the fast-food restaurant on Brown Street.

The Dayton Fire Department told 2 NEWS crews were called to the bar around 6 a.m. The fire is said to have started in the kitchen overnight and spread through the roof exhaust. Smoke could be seen on top of the building and flames from the vent.

There was no structural damage to the bar or any of the attached buildings. However, the bar’s kitchen was damaged and will not be able to reopen.

The Fire Marshall and health department are on scene. 2 NEWS will update this developing story as we receive more information.
