DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A 40-year-old man was hospitalized after crashing head-on into a tree on South Gettysburg Avenue in Dayton Tuesday morning.

Montgomery County Regional Dispatch told 2 NEWS that a call came in around 9:21 a.m. informing them that a car hit a tree and had flipped on its top.

A report filed by Dayton police said that the man lost control of the vehicle, drove over the grass median and into a tree. The resulting crash “split the vehicle into multiple parts,” sending debris into the southbound lanes.

The only person in the car at the time of the crash was the driver, who was taken to Miami Valley Hospital after he was found laying on the ground by first responders. Police said that he suffered non-life threatening injuries.
