Crews battled house fire reportedly caused by a lightning strike in Vandalia

VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) – Crews battled flames at a home in Vandalia Tuesday that was possibly caused by a lightning strike.

The Vandalia Police Department confirmed to 2 NEWS that crews were on scene of a working house fire on the 1100 block of Bent Twig Drive.

According to 2 NEWS crews on scene, the fire is believed to have been caused by a lightning strike to the attic area of the home. Neighbors reported hearing a loud boom.

Firefighters said no one was home at the time of the fire, however a dog was rescued from the home. Another animal ran from the home and is currently missing in the neighborhood.
