Court sending teen missing for a year after father’s murder to mental health facility

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A teen who went missing for roughly a year is being sent to a mental health facility, but it is unclear for how long.

Jacob Caldwell is accused of running away from home after witnessing the murder of his father.

Court records said, “Given the trauma in the child’s recent past, the court feels a lockdown residential treatment facility will help address issues with the trauma.”

His mother is facing charges in connection to the case.

Authorities found him in a Miami Township home, along with four other adults who police say were not related to Jacob but were friends of his mother.
