Couple donates wedding gifts to Dayton Children’s Hospital

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – In lieu of typical wedding gifts, a couple who got married over the weekend asked their guests to bring a donation for Dayton Children’s Hospital instead.

Willard Barnett and his wife got married recently, but it wasn’t your typical wedding. The couple first met in 1975 and went their separate ways for 43 years before getting back together.

Now that they are in their 60s, they did not want to ask for money or gifts for themselves, so instead, they asked their wedding guests to bring a gift to donate to Dayton Children’s Hospital.

“It’s so heartwarming, the connection people like the Barnett’s have to Dayton Children’s Hospital. It really makes us feel so special to be part of such a great community,” says Stacy Porter, PR Director for Dayton Children’s.

Over 300 gifts were donated to the hospital.
