DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority said Wednesday it will temporarily close bus stops on Gettysburg Avenue due to a construction project at the Dayton VA.

The Dayton VA construction project involves the closure and removal of sidewalks where RTA stops are located near the entrance to the campus and the U.S. 35 ramp to Gettysburg Avenue.

RTA says during that construction, riders who use RTA routes 8 or 24 to access the Dayton VA will not be able to board or exit a bus at their normal stops.

The stops that will be closed are:

  • Gettysburg at Veterans Administration Medical Center (Stop IDs 5950 & 5945)
  • Gettysburg at Ramp to US 35 (1535)
  • Gettysburg at Kenesaw (1541)

RTA says the best option for riders who use these stops is to continue to the Westown Transit Center, located off West Third Street at 122 Elmhurst Road and transfer to a Route 9 or 22 bus. These routes include several stops on the VA campus.

The construction project is expected to continue through fall 2018.
