DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Congressman Mike Turner joined other area officials Thursday to talk about the opioid epidemic in the Miami Valley.
Pamela Hughes Patenaude is the Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). She was in on the discussion at Central State University.
Patenaude says HUD is giving this area more housing options for those fighting addiction and recovery.
“Without a place to rest your head every night, if you’re in the streets and not in a stable environment, you’re going to be even more susceptible. So part of the recovery, and a permanent recovery, is safe, affordable housing,” she said.
Congressman Turner emphasized at the roundtable that opioids are still an epidemic here in the Miami Valley and local officials will keep working to get treatment to those who need it.
