Companies collaborating to build new type of robotics

Local News

MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) – Tuesday, Secretary of State John Husted and Representative Niraj Antani were at Yaskawa Motoman to announce plans that will impact education and manufacturing in the state.

Yaskawa, Whirlpool, and RamTec will collaborate on a new robot as well as developing virtual and augmented reality training to create a delivery system for others to learn how to run and modify robots.

“We’ve got a generation of workers in their fifties, like me, that aren’t ready to retire. They’ve got a lot to add, so using the new type of robotics in this new training will enable them to work longer and give back to the community even more and help manufacturing,” said RamTec coordinator Ritchie Ramey.

Representatives from the Ohio Department of Education and Ohio Manufacturing Association were also there for the announcement.
