Local News

Community members gathered together Friday to honor police officers who have fallen in the line of duty.

The Montgomery County law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Committee and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office with Sheriff Phil Plummer created this memorial car to honor 38 officers over the past 130 years who have made the ultimate sacrifice to our community.

The ceremony started at 11:00 a.m. at Riverscape in Downtown Dayton Friday with special guests U.S. Navy SEAL James Hatch, founder of Spike’s K-9 Fund, and Sara McPherson, who is a daughter of a Covington, Kentucky Police Officer.

McPherson’s father drowned in the line of duty after falling through a gap in a bridge in the Ohio River trying to catch a wanted person.
