Commissioners approve $1.5M payment for drowning death of child

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton City Commissioners voted this week to approve a financial settlement in the drowning death of a child last summer.

Commissioners decided to give $1.5 million to the estate of Niguel Hamilton.

The six-year-old died in July after he was found at the bottom of the pool at Lohrey Recreation Center after swimming lessons.

Commissioners voted to approve the payment during their regular meeting on Wednesday.
