Cold Case Thursday: Security guard killed while breaking up fight in 2014

Local News

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind the public of a cold case stemming from 2014 in the hopes that someone with new information may come forward.

Adrian Days was working as a security guard at the Old Red Barn, located at 700 Shiloh Springs Road. A private party was being held after a local rapper had put on a show for the Fourth of July.

A large fight broke out inside the business, and as guests were leaving, unknown persons started shooting at the security guards who had broken up the fight and shut down the party.

Security guards returned fire, but Days was struck by a bullet and did not survive his injuries after he was taken to the hospital.

Detectives have little information about the people who attended the party that were involved in the altercation.

Anyone who may have information about the crime can submit tips to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office through Facebook, by calling the Special Investigations Unit at 937-225-6499, or by calling Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at 937-222-STOP.

The Miami Valley Crime Stoppers provide rewards for tips that lead to the arrest and indictment of people charged with felony offenses.

The Sheriff’s Office is sharing information about this cold case as part of their #ColdCaseThursday social media campaign.
