SPRINGBORO, Ohio (WDTN) – Clearcreek Elementary in Springboro held a ribbon cutting Monday for their new sensory garden.
It’s a self-contained environment that allows both students and staff to enjoy a wide variety of sensory experiences, helping to stimulate everyone’s senses.
From a health and educational standpoint, experts say sensory gardens can be they key to helping a child grow.
“We are noticing a lot more in the classroom kids having trouble sitting still, kids having trouble with their writing. So, this is a way to provide a hands-on learning experience for the children to support them in the classroom,” said Occupational Therapist Sarah Wilguess.
Teachers and students first began developing their sensory garden in the spring.
